LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University track and field opened its 2024 outdoor season in NC State's Raleigh Relays and Cedarville's Yellowjacket Collegiate Outdoor Open.
Two new program records were set at the Raleigh Relays. Sophomore
Paul Stamm established a new bar in the 5000 after finishing in 14:11.13, which broke
Chase Atkins' previous mark of 14:25.15 from the 2023 Bryan Clay Invitational.
Sophomore
Sloan Cox's toss of 16.24 meters in the shot put bested Jonathan Neff's longstanding 15.48 from the 2011 Eastern Kentucky Open.
Sophomore
Jackson Gordon placed 10th and senior
Ike Boling 29th in the 86-member 400. Junior
Chloe Freilinger placed in the upper echelon of the women's 400 in 24th. Gordon also finished in the top half (60th) of the 800.
Bellarmine had several top finishes at the Yellowjacket Collegiate Outdoor Open. Freshman

Jansen Story took the gold in the 4x400 relay in 4:03.50.
Freshman
Amelia Svidal placed first in both the triple jump (11.19) and the long jump (5.59). Payne topped the competition in the 400 (57.79), as did freshman
Jacey Harding in the 100 hurdles (15.08). Freshman
Carter Olmsted was the runner-up in the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles.
Bellarmine had three top 10s in the women's discus, with junior
Avery Koch taking fourth, freshman
Haden Wolfe seventh and sophomore
Alysia Hurtado 10th. Harding placed fourth in the 400 hurdles, as did Hurtado in the hammer throw, with Wolfe in eighth.
Koch and Hurtado placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the shot put. Story was seventh in the 800, sophomore
Ahmya Baker was eighth in the long jump and Somwe was ninth in the 400.
Bellarmine will host the Jim Vargo Invitational on Friday.
