LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University track and field established several new program records competing in Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational and SIUE's Cougar Classic.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational, sophomore Paul Stamm etched a new program record in the 10000 after finishing in 29:44.66. Stamm, who placed 13th, broke Bellarmine Hall of Famer Chris Striegel's mark of 29:48.28 from the 2016 Hillsdale Last Chance Meet.

Sophomore Chase Atkins reclaimed the 5000 program record from Stamm after placing seventh in 14:07.09. Stamm previously recorded a 14:11.13 at this season's Raleigh Relays.

Continuing a theme, Sloan Cox authored a new program record in the shot put for the third straight week. The sophomore's 16.57-meter toss at the Cougar Classic topped his 16.29 from the Jim Vargo Invitational. Cox placed first in the event and also finished in the top half of the hammer throw (eighth) and discus (ninth).

In the 800 at the Bryan Clay Invitational, sophomore Jackson Gordon placed eighth in a 235-member field in the event.

Freshman Raven Payne was the runner-up in the women's 400 at the Cougar Classic, as was freshman Jacey Harding in the 400 hurdles. Junior Naimah Slaughter earned the bronze in the 100 hurdles and Harding was fifth.

Sophomore Jansen Story placed in the upper tier of the 400 (ninth) and 200 (10th), the latter of which saw freshman Annie Somwe take fifth. Freshman Amelia Svidal placed fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump.

Sophomore Alysia Hurtado placed fifth in the shot put and seventh in the hammer throw, while sophomore Avery Koch secured sixth in the discus and tied for ninth in the shot put.

Senior Ike Boling notched a third in the men's 200 at the Cougar Classic and was seventh in the 100. Freshman Clinton Bass took third in the 110 hurdles, and sophomore Zander Hooten was fourth in the 400 hurdles.

Bellarmine will compete Friday and Saturday in the University of Kentucky's Jim Green Invitational.
