LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University track and field rewrote a pair of program records and posted several top finishes Friday in the Jim Vargo Invitational at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
For the second straight week, sophomore
Sloan Cox established a new men's program record in the shot put, this time with a 16.29-meter throw that bested his 16.24 at the Raleigh Relays. Cox was the runner-up in the event.
Nolan White placed first in the 10000 while setting a new freshman program record after finishing in 30:43.97, which broke
Ryan Burchett's 31:02.98 from the 2022 Bryan Clay Invitational. Now a junior, Burchett was the runner-up in the event.
Sophomore
Jackson Gordon captured the gold in the 200 (22.05) and 400 (47.74). Gordon also combined with sophomore
Zac Hutslar, sophomore
Zander Hooten and senior
Ike Boling to place first in the 4x100 relay (42.13).
Hooten took top honors in the 400 hurdles (56.51). Boling was the runner-up in the 400, junior
Nolan Hester placed fourth in the 800 and freshmen
Clinton Bass and
Carter Olmsted finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 110 hurdles.
Sophomore
Alex Hooten and senior
Nick Lewis placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 1500; Cox was seventh and freshman
James Bronzwaig ninth in the hammer throw; freshman
Chase Austin placed seventh and junior
Josh Meiman ninth in the 5000; Boling and Olmsted were seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 200; and freshman
Ashton Noble was ninth in the discus.
Junior
Chloe Freilinger was the runner-up in the women's 400, as was junior
Avery Koch in the discus. Freshman
Amelia Svidal placed third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.
Junior
Naimah Slaughter took third in the 100 hurdles and freshman
Jacey Harding was sixth. Sophomore
Alysia Hurtado placed fourth and Koch was eighth in the shot put. Hurtado added a ninth in the hammer throw.
Freilinger was sixth and freshman
Raven Payne was 10th in the 200.
