LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Knights track and field wrangled several top finishes, and
Grant King set a new men's indoor freshman program record Friday at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
King rewrote the freshman mark in the 200, as his 22.38 bested
Jackson Gordon's 22.50 from the 2023 Cardinal Classic.
Gordon, now a junior, placed first in the seeded 800 (1:55.06), as did junior
Chase Atkins in the seeded 3000 (8:12.83), an event where senior
D.K. Schnieders also took third (8:23.99).
Senior
Nolan Hester (4:08.18) and junior
Alex Hooten (4:09.17) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the seeded mile. Senior
Josh Meiman captured top honors in the unseeded mile (4:16.26).
Sophomore
Amelia Svidal placed first in the women's triple jump (11.47). Sophomore
Raven Payne, sophomore
Annie Somwe, junior
Jansen Story and freshman
Shaianne Overall topped the 4x400 relay (3:59.01).
Payne was fifth (58.37) and Story was ninth (1:00.02) in the 400. Senior
Taylor White took seventh in the seeded 3000 (10:15.28) and sophomore
Haden Wolfe placed 10th in both the shot put (10.33) and weight throw (14.28).
Sophomore
Clinton Bass took fourth in the men's 60 hurdles (8.28), as did freshman
Will Bracher in the shot put (14.89). Junior
Zac Hutslar was fifth in the 200 (22.10) and King was eighth, and Hutslar finished seventh in the 60 (7.04).
Bellarmine will compete Friday and Saturday in the University of Louisville-hosted PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational at Norton SLC.
