JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bellarmine University's
Colin Mackey was acknowledged as the ASUN Player of the Week for men's soccer, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The redshirt junior midfielder played a pivotal role in Bellarmine's 5-2 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday night in Owsley B. Frazier Stadium, a victory that vaulted the Knights into first place in the Gold Division along with launching the team into the ASUN Championship for the sixth straight season.
Mackey recorded one goal and two assists against the then-division-leading Bears. His first helper came on what would wind up as senior midfielder
Collin Folds' game-winning goal. Mackey then scored on a free kick before being a part of the tandem on a double assist on the Knights' final goal compliments of redshirt senior midfielder
Jackson Marks as Bellarmine captured its Division I-era program-record eighth victory.
Mackey becomes the third Knight to earn ASUN Player of the Week accolades this season after sophomore forward
Johan Nissen-Lie and redshirt senior midfielder
Brendan Schoemehl. He's the fifth overall weekly honoree, as redshirt senior goalkeeper
Peter Van Euwen (ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week) and senior defender
Rhys Davies (ASUN Defensive Player of the Week) have also been recognized.
