LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Junior
Jackson Gordon captured a silver medal in the men's 400 meters for Bellarmine University track and field on the second and final day of the ASUN Indoor Championship.
Indeed saving his best for last, Gordon broke his own program record in the 400 after finishing as the runner-up in 47.08, which netted the team eight points Friday at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. It was the third straight indoor season in which Gordon secured a silver in the event.
Bellarmine's men placed sixth of seven teams with 38 points. On Friday, freshman
Will Bracher placed fourth in the shot put (15.93, five points).
Bellarmine had three fifth places worth four points each that came from junior
Alex Hooten in the 800 (1:52.4), junior
Chase Atkins in the 3000 (8:12.16) and sophomore
Clinton Bass in the 60 hurdles (8.25). Sophomore
Carter Olmsted scored as well in the 60 hurdles (seventh, 8.74, two points).
Junior
Zac Hutslar placed eighth in the 200 (22.14, one point). Olmsted, Hutslar, freshman
Grant King and Gordon took fifth in the 4x400 relay (3:19.88, four points).
Bellarmine's women placed ninth of nine with 10 points. On Friday, sophomore
Amelia Svidal placed fifth in the triple jump (11.46, four points) while junior
Sierra Oesterling placed seventh in the mile (5:13.61, two points).
