ASHEVILLE, NC — Sophomore
James Bronzwaig placed first in the men's hammer throw as Bellarmine University track and field competed Friday and Saturday in the Asheville Bulldog Invite.
Bronzwaig took gold in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.34. The Knights had three of the top 8 in the event, as sophomore
Alex Cole placed fifth (49.02) and senior
Luke Wunsch took eighth (45.00).
Cole was third in the discus (48.42) and another thrower, freshman
Will Bracher, finished eighth in the shot put (14.54). Junior
Zander Hooten placed third in the 110 hurdles (14.79), junior
Zac Hutslar was fifth in the 100 (10.80), freshman
Grant King nabbed sixth in the 400 (50.12), with Hutslar taking eighth in the event (50.38), and freshman
Salah Farah finished 10th in the 5000 (15:48.91).
Sophomore
Amelia Svidal was the runner-up in the women's triple jump (11.34) while placing third in the long jump (5.40). The Knights had three of the top 7 in the 200, as sophomore
Raven Payne placed third (25.38), sophomore
Annie Somwe was fifth (25.65) and freshman
Grace Daily was seventh (25.77).
Senior
Avery Koch finished fourth in the discus (38.94), as did junior
Alysia Hurtado in the hammer throw (46.94), with sophomore
Haden Wolfe taking ninth in the latter event (43.68). Koch also placed ninth in the shot put (11.44), as did Somwe in the triple jump (11.09) while Daily was 10th in the 100 (12.54).
Bellarmine will compete this week in Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational and Indiana State's Gibson Invitational.
