Sprint football announces 2025 schedule

4/17/2025 2:40:00 PM

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Head coach Harold Davis on Thursday announced Bellarmine sprint football's schedule for the 2025 season.

Bellarmine (4-3 in 2024) will play a seven-game regular season slate against Midwest Sprint Football League competition, including three home games at Page Stadium on the campus of St. Xavier High School. All games are currently scheduled for Saturdays.

New this season, the league will be divided into two divisions of three teams each. The divisions were set by an average of regular season finishes from the past two years to ensure a balanced strength of competition within each division. Bellarmine will be in the Red Division with Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) and Oakland City (Ind.). The Blue Division will consist of Midway (Ky.), Quincy (Ill.) and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.). Teams will face divisional opponents both home and away, while playing cross-division opponents once. All seven games will count toward conference standings.

"We're also excited that the league has decided to have two divisions and a new playoff system. We hope to put ourselves in a good position going into the playoffs," said Bellarmine head coach Harold Davis.

Note: Walsh, a previous MSFL member of two seasons, discontinued their sprint football program last month.

Before beginning MSFL action, the Knights will head to West Point, N.Y., for an exhibition against Army. The Black Knights last fall went a perfect 8-0 en route to their 38th Collegiate Sprint Football League championship.

The Knights will open their fourth season at Oakland City (1-5 in 2024) in southwestern Indiana on September 13. Bellarmine defeated OCU 32-14 in the regular season finale at Page Stadium last October.

Bellarmine's home opener will be the Battle of the Bourbon Barrel against Midway (2-4 in 2024) on September 20. The Eagles have yet to possess the barrel, falling to the Knights in all four previous matchups, including two in the MSFL's inaugural season. The Knights won 49-15 last September in Midway.

Calumet (7-1 in 2024), the 2024 MSFL champion who has defeated Bellarmine in each of the past two seasons' semifinals, then visits on September 27.

Bellarmine then hits the road again to take on Quincy (2-4 in 2024) in western Illinois on October 4. The Knights handled the Hawks 27-21 in the 2024 season opener at Page Stadium.

After a bye the week of October 11, OCU makes their return trip to Louisville on October 18.

Bellarmine then finishes the regular season with a pair of road games, making their return trip to Calumet in suburban Chicago on October 25 and visiting Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (7-1 in 2024) in western Indiana on November 1. Last year's MSFL runners-up, SMWC was victorious at Page Stadium 54-26.

"Although we are playing the top two teams on the road to end the regular season, we're looking forward to the challenge," Davis said.

The MSFL semifinals will be held on November 8 and feature the division winners taking on the second-place finishers from the other division, with the division winners hosting. The championship game will then follow on November 15.

The Knights last year went 4-2 in the regular season before falling at Calumet in the semifinals 42-13.
