LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Postseason competition has arrived for Bellarmine University track and field, as the Knights will not only participate in but host the ASUN Indoor Championship at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Action will take place Friday and Saturday, with start times of 9 a.m. (ET) on the former day and 8:30 a.m. on the latter day. Bellarmine is hosting the conference meet for the second straight year.
Nine women's teams and seven men's teams comprise the field at the ASUN Championship. Central Arkansas swept the team titles last season while Lipscomb was the runner-up on both sides.
This will be the first ASUN Championship experience in track and field for
Emma Petersen, who is in her first year as Bellarmine's director of XC/TF.
The Knights have numerous athletes ranked in the top 10 of the ASUN. The men's 4x400m relay team of sophomore
Grant King, freshman
Tucker Smith, senior
Zac Hutslar and senior
Jackson Gordon is ranked first in the conference (3:16.54).
Gordon is ranked third (48.18) and King is 10th (49.17) in the 400m, while Hutslar is fifth (21.83) and King is ninth (22.03) in the 200m. Hutslar is 10th in the long jump (6.79m).
Bellarmine has three men's throwers ranked in the top 10 in the shot put in sophomore
Will Bracher (fourth, 15.81m), freshman
Dylan Forster (fifth, 15.72m) and junior
Enrico Busato (eighth, 14.58m). Bracher is seventh in the weight throw (16.73m).
Senior
Zander Hooten is ranked fourth in the conference in the 60m hurdles (7.96) and junior
Carter Olmsted is 10th (8.34). Senior
Alex Hooten is eighth in the mile (4:04.82), and freshman
Tola Taiwo is ninth in the triple jump (13.90m).
Freshman
Caysie Brady is ranked fourth in the ASUN in the women's weight throw (17.03m). Junior
Amelia Svidal is sixth in the triple jump (11.79m) and eighth in the long jump (5.62m).
