JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bellarmine University's Tate McCrery was acknowledged as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer, the league announced Monday.

A redshirt senior defensive midfielder, McCrery had a hand in both of Bellarmine's second-half goals in a 2-1 comeback win Sunday over Northern Kentucky. He assisted on the first, which was delivered by junior forward Teddy Franke, and initiated a brilliant sequence of passes with freshman midfielder David Skorupan and junior forward Johan Nissen-Lie that led to redshirt senior midfielder Colin Mackey's game-winning goal.

McCrery never left the field against the Norse or in Tuesday's scoreless draw with Xavier. The Louisville native contributed to a defensive effort in which the only goal conceded over the two matches was via a penalty kick. The defense did not allow a single shot on goal against Xavier and only three against NKU.

McCrery is the second straight Knight to earn ASUN Defensive Player of the Week plaudits following sophomore defender Gavin Crowe's nod.
