LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University lacrosse team failed to score in the game's first 34 minutes as the No. 19 Fairfield Stags blew out the Knights 13-4 in an ECAC game today at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

Stags goalkeeper Joseph Marra pitched a shutout in the first half, successfully defending seven Bellarmine shots, and the visitors built an 8-0 halftime lead.  Fairfield's first half attack was led by John Snellman and Nick Baglio who each scored twice in the opening half.

Bellarmine finally got on the board with 10:58 in the third period when Derek Hopcroft scored on a breakaway.  Fairfield answered back as Snellman registered this third goal of the game, and Doug Kuring added another Fairfield goal just 16 seconds later.

Sean Doyle, Bellarmine's leading scorer, added two more goals before the end of the period to cut the lead to 10-3 at the end of the third quarter.

The Stags extended their lead to 10 at 13-3 before Bellarmine's Colton Clark scored with just over a minute remaining to make the final margin nine at 13-4.

Bellarmine falls to 6-4 (0-2 ECAC) on the season, while Fairfield wins its fifth straight to improve to 6-2 (3-0).

Next up for the Knights is their western road trip where they will face Denver at 7 p.m. on Friday then take on Air Force on Sunday.
