LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University men's tennis team dropped a close match to in-state rival Campbellsville University this afternoon at Bellarmine losing by a final count 5-4.
For Bellarmine, the highlight of the match was the Bellarmine number one doubles team of
Jacob Knagenhjelm and
Carlos Antonioli beating Carlos Anton & Pablo Numbela--the number three ranked NAIA doubles team in the nation--8-4.
The Knights probably left the match thinking that they had let one slip away. "We really had our chances today," said Bellarmine Coach
John Mican. "We couldn't convert two match points at number three doubles, and we won the first set in all three of the singles matches we lost."
In the other three singles matches, BU's
Carlos Antonioli,
Paul Clark and Chp Jabaley all won in straight sets.
"If this team continues to fight like they did today there are certainly brighter days ahead," Mican said.
