FAIRFIELD, Conn.--The Bellarmine University lacrosse team made a strong fourth quarter comeback, but couldn't overcome a 7-goal deficit as the host Fairfield Stags hung on to win 13-11 in an ECAC league game played this afternoon.

After getting shutout in the first period, the Knights found themselves playing catch up the entire game, and when Fairfield's Sam Snow scored with 2:35 remaining in the third quarter, Bellarmine trailed 11-7.

However, the Knights made a comeback attempt led by Mitch McLaren, who tallied four goals in the game's final 16:45.  However, Will Cary's goal with 1:06 remaining ended the game's scoring with Bellarmine trailing by two.

Fairfield improves to 5-4 (2-1 ECAC) while the Knights slip to 4-7 (0-2 ECAC).

The game's leading scorer was Fairfield's Brent Adams, who registered four goals and added two assists.  The Knights were led by McLaren with four goals and Cary with two goals and two assists.

Fairfield's Charlie Ciprano picked up the win in goal, logging all 60 minutes and recording 13 saves.  Dillon Ward was saddled with the loss for the Knights. He also played all 60 minutes and picked up 11 saves.
