LOUISVILLE, Ky. - On Saturday the Bellarmine University lacrosse team (6-2, 2-2 ECAC) will travel to Fairfield, Connecticut to take on the Stags of Fairfield University (6-3, 2-0 ECAC) in a pivotal Eastern College Athletic Conference match-up.
 
The game against Fairfield will be Bellarmine's second consecutive ECAC game with two more to follow (Denver and Hobart) in the next two weeks.

Fairfield sits one spot ahead of Bellarmine in the ECAC standings with wins over Hobart and Michigan, and a win for the Knights will greatly increase their position in the conference and their chances of making the ECAC Tournament at season's end.

The game Saturday will be Bellarmine's third road game of the season and will provide a tough test against the Stags who are strong at home. In five seasons under head coach Andy Copelan the Stags are 21-11 in games played at Alumni Field and Lessing Field in Fairfield.
 
The Knights have never beaten Fairfield, trailing in the all-time series 0-3. Last season, in Louisville, the Stags were able to eke out a 9-8 victory over the Knights scoring a late winner with only 13 seconds left to play in regulation.
 
The Stags have been led offensively this season by Jordan Greenfield (21g 7a) and Sam Snow (14g 7a), the latter scoring the game winning goal against the Knights in 2012.
 
Bellarmine, allowing a league best 6.88 goals per game, will again rely on their defense to lead them to victory. The Knights defense is coming off of a strong outing allowing just nine goals to the Buckeyes of Ohio State, albeit in a loss.
 
The Knights had trouble finding the back of the net against OSU and will try to get the attack unit of Cameron Gardner (20g 3a), Michael Ward (14g 7a) and Lance Robinson (12g 9a) back on track against the Stags.

Faceoff will be Saturday Mar. 30 at noon on Lessing Field in Fairfield.
