Men's tennis splits opening spring break matches

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University men's tennis team began their spring break trip splitting matches with an 8-1 win over Wartburg College and a 6-3 loss to Coe College in Kissimmee, Fla.

The Knights beat Wartburg in decisive fashion, taking all six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

Bellarmine's fortunes turned on their second match against Coe College. After picking up wins in first and second singles, the Knights went down 4-2 before doubles play began.

The Knights' Anton Rabinov and Igal Mostkov were each perfect on the day going 1-0 at number one doubles and 2-0 at numbers one and two singles. Unfortunately Coe rattled off victories in second and third doubles, giving them the 6-3 victory.

Despite the loss, coach John Mican is optimistic about the Knights' upcoming matches "Although we were disapointed by the loss the men really fought hard and can't wait to get back at it."
