Bellarmine to get first road test at Jacksonville

2/21/2014 7:01:00 PM

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University lacrosse team will meet the Dolphins of Jacksonville University in their first road game of the season on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in D.B. Milne Field. The game is preview of future league contests as the teams will be conference foes in 2015 as the Atlantic Sun transfers men's lacrosse into the Southern Conference.

The Knights opened their regular season at home this past Saturday with a 10-7 victory over Robert Morris as freshman Tucker Ciessau netted four goals and Will Haas collected 18 saves in goal to lead Bellarmine to the win.  For their outstanding efforts, Ciessau earned "Rookie of the Week" honors and Haas was named "Defensive Player of the Week" in the ECAC this week.

The Dolphins have opened the season 0-2, but faced top five powers Duke (lost 16-10)  and Notre Dame (lost 19-7) in their first two games. Jacksonville's offense is being paced by Tom Moore and Dakota Rohlin with four goals apiece and Duncan Clancy leads the team in scoring with six assists and three goals. Jacksonville goalie Pete DeLuca was named preseason "Defensive Player of the Year" in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Bellarmine and Jacksonville have met just once previously, with the Knights pulling out a 14-13 road victory in the Dolphins' inaugural 2010 season.
