LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University men's tennis team took a 6-3 decision over Asbury University in a match played Friday evening at BU's Sport, Recreation, and Fitness (SuRF) Center.

"The key to the win tonight was the number three doubles team coming back from a 6-2 deficit and finally taking the match in the tie-break," said Bellarmine Coach John Mican.   That victory gave the Knights a two to one advantage heading into singles.

While Jimmy Fernandez was locked in a tight match at number one singles both Jose Legarreta and Logan Knott wasted no time finishing their matches in impressive fashion at the numbers two and four singles respectively. Knott's match clinched it for the Knights as minutes earlier Alex Swords fought his way through a tough second set to gain the victory at the number three singles spot.  Nathan Walroth finished out the scoring for the Knights with a thrilling 14-12 third set tie-break win at number five singles.

Chip Jabaley once again entertained the crowd with his unique brand of tennis but fell just short in a third set super tie-break. 

"There was some great tennis at the SuRF tonight and we can definitely build on this win against a solid squad from Asbury," Mican said.

The Knights will now travel to Principia college for two matches on Sunday against GLVC western conference foes UMSL and Truman State.
