Zachary Kuo pulled in wins in both singles and doubles in Bellarmine's 8-1 rout of IUS

Knights crush Grenadiers 8-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Bellarmine University men's tennis team hammered the visiting Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers 8-1 on a windy Friday afternoon at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex. Having lost a pair of matches on the road last weekend, the Knights responded well, taking out their NAIA foe at home.

"Playing in 20-30 mile an hour wind makes for some interesting tennis," said head coach John Mican. "We were able to deal with it for the most part, but when some of the gusts came through it seemed as though no shot, no matter how well struck, was safe from being carried off the court."

With the win, Bellarmine improves to 5-5. Indiana University Southeast falls to 2-3.

"IUS put up a good fight until the very end so it was a good test of our survival skills. Getting the win took strong focus and good footwork as the players had to continually adjust their court position according to the wind. It wasn't pretty tennis but the guys got the job done and earned a much needed "W"," said Mican.

The Knights will host Southern Indiana on Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m.
