Bellarmine falls to Cumberlands 2-7

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Bellarmine University men's tennis team dropped a 2-7 match at the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday afternoon in Williamsburg, Ky. in the first of two road matches this weekend.

The Knights found the tennis to be quite different today as they faced the Patriots outdoors, having spent the month of February indoors.

"It was a different world out there today," said head coach John Mican. "Even though it was a loss, it was a hard fought match as we re-learn how to navigate the elements. The effort was there but now we will again focus on the execution," said Mican.

Knott had another strong showing. The junior first partnered with Jimmy Fernandez to pick up the Knights' first point in doubles, 8-6, then earned the Knights second point on the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the number five singles spot. Knott runs his combined singles and doubles record on the year to an astounding 16-4.

"Logan is absolutely determined to maximize his time and talent while a student athlete at Bellarmine University," said Mican.

Bellarmine falls to 4-4 with the loss.

The Knights have a quick turnaround as they will battle Lincoln Memorial on Sunday in Harrogate, Tenn. at 2 p.m.
