LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University lacrosse team travels to Jacksonville on Saturday as the Knights play their first Southern Conference road game at noon at D.B. Milne Field on the Jacksonville University campus.
The Knights enter 3-4 on the season with a 1-0 mark in SoCon play after last week's come-from-behind 11-7 victory over Mercer. The Dolphins are 2-4 and lost their SoCon opener last Saturday in a 12-6 decision at Richmond.
Offensively, Bellarmine is being led by
Tucker Ciessau, who ranks ninth in the SoCon in points with a 2.43 average per game. The junior from Scituate, Massachusetts has rung up 12 goals and dished out five assists this season while extending his scoring streak to 19 games.
Other top producers for the Knights include
Jack Perkins (10 goals, 2 assists),
Dylan Gatt (7 goals, 2 assists) and
Brian Wall (2 goals, 5 assists).
The Dolphins' Shawn Ewert is seventh in the league with a scoring average of 2.67 with five goals and 11 assists on the season. Dakota Rohlin is the leading Jacksonville goal scorer with nine on the season while six different Dolphins have notched five goals.
Defensively, Bellarmine is giving up 9.17 goals per game while Jacksonville surrenders 12.6 per contest with Dolphin goalie Ben Gleichenhaus leading the league in saves with 13.67 per game. Bellarmine's
Chase Rose is third in the conference in goals-against average at 9.14.
Saturday's faceoff battles promise to be highly contested as Bellarmine's
Connor Harryman and Jacksonville's Hunter Forbes are essentially tied for third in the SoCon with a win percentage of 57.6.
