JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Bellarmine University tennis teams both suffered losses to Carson-Newman on Friday, as the women were defeated 3-6 and the men were beaten 2-7.
On the women's side, junior
Sydney Thompson posted two victories for Bellarmine (4-4). She won at No. 5 singles and combined with sophomore
Bess Fley for a No. 3 doubles victory. Sophomore
Mairin Cotter also achieved a win at No. 6 singles.
Carson-Newman (7-2) won two of the three doubles matches and the Nos. 1-4 singles matches.
Bellarmine's men (3-4) were swept in their singles matches by Carson-Newman (4-5), but juniors Jose Legaretta and Zachary Quo captured a No. 1 doubles victory and junior
Alex Swords and sophomore
Matthew Momper won at No. 2 doubles.
Bellarmine's squads will play at Cumberland (Tenn.) University on Saturday.
