LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine Knights lacrosse team will look to keep the momentum going as they visit Southern Conference rival Air Force Academy on Saturday night at 9 p.m. (ET) in the Holaday Athletic Center.
Last week, the Knights (2-6, 1-1 SoCon) closed out their game against VMI on a 5-0 run to win their first SoCon game by a count of 13-8.
The Falcons, who are the defending conference champions and the preseason pick to repeat, are coming off a 7-6 loss to Marquette on Tuesday. Air Force held a 6-4 lead heading into the final quarter, but the host Eagles ran off three unanswered goals to record the come-from-behind victory.
Saturday's game features a pair of prolific scorers. Bellarmine's
Tucker Ciessau enters as the Knights all-time points leader with 111 while Chris Walsch is no. 2 on the Air Force scoring list with 155.
Both players, who were each named to the preseason All-SoCon team, are again putting up big numbers in 2017. Ciessau paces the Knights' scoring attack with 17 goals and 10 assists while Walsch leads the Falcons with 33 points (23 G, 10 a). Meanwhile, Walsch's teammate Nick Hruby is the leading goal-scorer in the league, averaging 2.4 goals per game.
Last year, the Falcons scored two narrow victories over the Knights. In the regular season, Air Force escaped from Louisville with an 8-7 overtime win at Frazier Stadium, and AFA took a 10-8 decision in the SoCon semifinals in Richmond.
Due to heavy snow in the area, Saturday's game has been moved indoors to the Holaday Athletic Center. Due to the change in venue, video streaming of the game will not be available. There is no seating in the Holaday Athletic Center, therefore, a very limited number of fans will be able to enter the facility to watch the game from the mezzanine level.
