LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Seniors
Morgan Macko and
Eric Rubak have been named captains of the Bellarmine University lacrosse team, Coach
Andrew Whitley announced Friday.
Macko and Rubak were also team captains last season along with former Knight
Josh Wehn.
"The foundation of Bellarmine lacrosse is extremely sound and that is a credit to the leadership Morgan and Eric have provided our locker room," Whitley said. "We have entered the 2019-20 season in a very good place as a program, and we have made a lot of progress this fall. I expect Morgan and Eric's experience and poise to help further the progress we have made this fall and guide us into and through an exciting 2020 season!"
Macko and Rubak have been key contributors their entire careers at Bellarmine. Last season, Macko ranked second on the team in points (36), goals (21) and assists (15). The senior attack is in the program's all-time top 10 in points, goals and assists. Last year, he was a Southern Conference Honor Roll member for the third straight season.
A senior defender, Rubak finished second on the team last season in caused turnovers (13) and second among the Knights' defenders in ground balls (30). He's tied for seventh all-time on the program's caused turnovers list.
