Michael Staff took down the No. 1 seed and freshman
Emil Bjoerlykke Berglund advanced to the quarterfinals in the "B" singles draw as the Bellarmine University men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Grand Valley State.
In his first-round match, Staff defeated top-seeded Luke Laws of Wayne State 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 before adding a 6-4, 6-2 win over Walsh's Filipp Kulynych. Bjoerlykke Berglund posted three victories, including a 1-6, 6-4, 10-4 triumph over seventh-seeded Sean Miller of Grand Valley State. He also rallied for 6-7 (4), 6-1, 10-4 win over Daniil Khitrou of Davenport to reach the quarterfinals.
Staff and Berglund advanced to the "B" doubles draw quarterfinals after earning a pair of wins.

Eli Franks notched one victory each in the "B" singles draw. Freshman
Paul Reynolds tallied a win in the "A" singles draw and junior
Evan Bottorff added a victory in the "A" singles consolation draw.
"The team had a very positive and successful weekend," Knights Coach
Will Davis said. "They are learning and getting better with every match they play. I'm excited about where this team will go and the future of this program."
