LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine lacrosse team will play its last home game of the 2019 season on Saturday as the Knights host SoCon leader High Point at Frazier Stadium.
Bellarmine (3-8, 3-2) has momentum on its side, having won three consecutive games in conference play against Mercer, VMI, and Furman.
High Point enters Saturday ranked No. 11 in the most recent Inside Lacrosse poll and No. 13 in the USILA poll. The Panthers boast a 10-2 overall record on the season, including a 4-1 record in league play.
The all-time series between the two schools is even at 3-3. In last year's matchup High Point led from start to finish and used an array of goals to secure a 15-7 win.
Offensively, The Knights have been on a tear of late. During their current three game win streak Bellarmine has netted a total of 44 goals.
Stephen Votto is coming off a spectacular performance against Furman in which he recorded three goals and three assists.
Riley Seay has paced the Knights with a team-high 25 goals on the season. Seay,
Landon Trout, and
Morgan Macko have been consistent contributors to Bellarmine's offensive efforts as all three players have logged at least 30 points and have scored at least a point in every game this season.
High Point comes into the game on Saturday with a high-octane offense of its own. The Panthers are tied for fourth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 14.75 goals per game. Asher Nolting leads the charge with 69 points on 33 goals and 36 assists. Nolting's 69 points are good for fifth in the nation. Chris Young is the leading goal-scorer for High Point with 36 goals on the year.
On the defensive end,
Josh Wehn leads the Knights with 13 caused turnovers, and is tied for the team lead in ground balls with 29. In goal,
Jordan Dondoyano continues to put up solid numbers. The junior ranks seventh nationally in saves per game with 13.90.
For the Panthers, Chris Price has recorded a team-high 17 caused turnovers to go along with 23 ground balls. In the crease, Tim Troutner Jr. has started every game and has accumulated 148 saves to go along with a save percentage of .548.
