Knights hope to stay perfect at home against Boston University on Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine lacrosse team will look to stay perfect at home when the Knights host the Terriers of Boston University at noon on Saturday in Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

The Knights (2-3) have successfully defended the home turf against Hampton and St. Bonaventure this year, outscoring their foes 34-10 in the two games.

Like Hampton and St. Bonaventure, Boston University (1-3) is a first-time opponent for the Knights. The Terriers launched their program with the 2014 season and compete in Patriot League.

Last season, Boston University compiled an 11-6 record and fell in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament. This year, the Terriers' lone victory came over Massachusetts-Lowell while they dropped decisions to Providence, Ohio State and Bryant.

Freshman Vince D'Alto paces the Terrier offense with nine goals and four assists on the season and is coming off a 5-goal, 1-assist performance against Bryant.  Other top offensive threats for Boston include Louis Perfetto (8 pts.), Timmy Ley (6 pts.) and Jared Nugent (5 pts.)

Defensively, long stick middie Eddy Reece has caused 12 turnovers in the first four games for the Terriers, and goalie Joe McSorely has racked up 53 saves with save percentage of 56.4.

Boston has been solid at the faceoff X this season with Sean Christman and Kevin Snyder combining to win 51 of 85 (60 percent).

The Knights starting attack line features Bellarmine's three leading scorers with Landon Trout, Brayden Brown and Luke Legnard totaling 17, 16 and 12 points respectively.  Brown is the leading goal scorer with 12 on the season.  Midfielder Morgan Macko is coming off big game against Detroit Mercy, scoring five goals and handing out a pair of assists to raise his season point total to 11.

On the Bellarmine defensive end, Jon Robbins also is coming off a good performance at Detroit Mercy when he registered five caused turnovers to take over the team lead with seven on the season. Freshman JC Higginbotham is the reigning Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week after posting a miniscule 2.38 goals-against average and an .812 save percentage in 75 minutes of action last week against Hampton and St. Bonaventure.
