Men's tennis totals 11 wins in final fall invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Every Bellarmine men's tennis player secured a win this past weekend at the CCB Collegiate Invitational, while the Knights as a team accumulated 11 total victories.

The tournament was hosted by Samford University.  Alongside Bellarmine and Samford – Lipscomb, Louisiana Lafayette, Nicholls State, South Alabama, Tulane, and UAB participated.
 
The Knights tallied nine singles wins and two doubles victories in their final action of the calendar year.
 
The pairing of Cole Groetsch and Paul Reynolds topped South Alabama's Sebastien Collard and Louis Delcour (8-5) for the first doubles win.  Simeon Kostov and Jack Batchelor teamed up to beat Vasil Dimitrov and Calin Postea of Louisiana Lafayette (8-6).
 
In singles play, Kostov wrangled a pair of victories.  The first came against Pavle Drobnjakovic (6-3, 6-1), and the second was against Nicola Wehrle (6-3, 6-3) – both Nicholls State players.
 
Donovan Ecarma came out on top against Timoythy Dixon from Samford (6-1, 6-2) and picked up a win by injury to South Alabama's Phillip Bosman.
 
Michael Staff battled for a win over UAB's Parker Bradbary (6-3, 2-6, 1-0(4)) and also nabbed a win by injury to Bosman.

Emil B. Berglund defeated Samford's Matthew Gooch (6-4, 6-1), Batchelor Ricardo Machado of Nicholls State (6-4, 6-2), and Groetsch toppled Nicholls State's Prasanna Pravin Bagade (6-4, 6-3).

The Knights are officially done with their fall schedule and return to action Jan. 16 at Kentucky.
