Bellarmine and Air Force to tangle in SoCon action

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine Knights return to action on Sunday at noon as they welcome the Air Force Falcone to Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in their second SoCon contest of the season.
 
Conference foes, Bellarmine and Air Force have faced each other 10 times in history. Five of those were conference games. The Falcons hold a 9-1 series lead. The last game between the two in 2019 yielded a 13-6 Falcons win. Bellarmine's lone win over Air Force came in 2013.

Bellarmine (2-7) comes into Saturday's contest after falling to Richmond in their conference opener.
 
Kyle Playsted (9G/8A) and Landon Trout (12G/4A) have been the Knights' leaders on the offensive end, tallying 17 and 16 points through eights contest. Benny O'Rourk has also put up 12 points (9G/3A) while Luke Legnard and Griffin Bowie each have notched 10 points.
 
The Knights' defense has been led by Jon Robbins and Eric Rubak. Robbins leads the team in caused turnovers with 22 and has scooped up 26 ground balls. Rubak leads the team in ground balls with 41 and has 19 caused turnovers.
 
In goal, JC Higginbotham has been the primary option for the Knights, starting in six of the seven game she has seen action in. He has recorded 86 saves with a .512 save percentage.
 
Air Force (1-5) comes into this contest after falling to North Carolina last week. The Falcons have played some very stiff competition this season, facing four teams currently ranked in the top 10 of the USILA poll in Denver, Duke, Virginia, and North Carolina.
 
Ethan Grandolfo leads the Spiders offense with 13 points (9G/4A). Matthew O'Rouk, who is the older brother of Bellarmine's Benny O'Rourk, and Quincy Peene have each put up 11 points through the first six games of the season.
 
Braden Host has anchored the Falcons' defense this season, making 56 saves with a 44% save percentage thus far. Dylan Frankhouser has served as Air Force's primary option at the faceoff dot and has gone 25-for-71 through six games.
