TOLEDO, Oh. — The Bellarmine men's tennis team opened its fall slate by recording 10 singles wins and three doubles victories in the Toledo Rocket Invitational from Friday through Sunday.
In addition to Bellarmine and host Toledo, Case Western University, Kenyon College, the University of Northwestern Ohio, and the University of Chicago also competed in the three-day tournament.
Freshman
Jack Batchelor and senior
Cole Groetsch were named to the all-tournament team as Batchelor paced the Knights with three singles victories and Groetsch picked up two singles wins. Junior
Emil B. Berglund won a pair of singles matches, including Bellarmine's lone win against Toledo. Freshman
Donovan Ecarma also won twice in singles competition, while junior
Paul Reynolds secured one singles win against Kenyon College.
In doubles competition, Bellarmine tallied three wins. Berglund and Ecarma paired up for a victory against Case Western. The teams of freshman
Simeon Kostov and Groetsch along with senior
Michael Staff and Berguland posted victories against Kenyon.
The Knights are back in action October 8-10 at the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State University in Bloomington, Illinois.
