Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine men's tennis continued its challenging non-conference schedule with a home-opening match against Xavier and fell 6-1 to the Musketeers on Friday.
Bellarmine (0-3) got a strong start at no. 1 doubles from
Cole Groetsch and
Paul Reynolds, beating Ryan Cahill and Diego Nava 7-6. Xavier (1-2) secured the next two doubles matches, however, and claimed the doubles point.
The lone point for the Knights came from
Emil B. Berglund in the no. 4 singles position, defeating Charlie Temmie in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 7-6). Freshman
Jack Batchelor also came close to a victory but dropped his three-set match (6-3, 4-6, 5-7).
Bellarmine's busy weekend continues tomorrow with matches against West Liberty at 9:30 a.m. and Indiana University Southeast at 3:00 p.m. Both matches will take place at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex as the Knights search for their first win of the season.
