LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine men's tennis will have to wait to extend its home winning streak, as the Knights start a four-match road stretch Friday afternoon at Belmont – the action begins at 3:00 p.m. ET.
BU also takes on Middle Tennessee this weekend with a Sunday match at 2:00 p.m. ET.
Bellarmine (4-5) is coming off a victory over Tennessee State this past Sunday. The Knights handled the Tigers 5-2. Their only home loss this year came against Xavier – since then Bellarmine has topped IU-Southeast, West Liberty, Campbellsville, and TSU.
Freshman
Jack Batchelor has a team-best 13 victories and winning record on the season, including a 6-2, 6-4 win this past Sunday. The doubles team of
Paul Reynolds and
Xavier Ecarma has been dominant, posting a 4-1 record this season, including a 2-0 mark at the no. 1 slot.
Belmont is 5-3 this season after two consecutive wins against Georgia Southern and Cumberland (TN). The Bruins started their spring season with wins against Lee, Lipscomb, and Chattanooga. Belmont's three losses came against Furman, UNC-Asheville, and Vanderbilt.
Middle Tennessee has played quite often and done quite well this season. The Blue Raiders are 15-3, including nine straight victories. Their only losses are to Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, and Notre Dame. MTSU has defeated Louisville, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Auburn, Michigan State, Arizona, and Oklahoma State this year.
