Men's tennis continues homestand with matchups against Eastern Illinois and Belmont

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—  The Bellarmine men's tennis team will continue its 10-match homestand this weekend, facing off against Eastern Illinois and Belmont.

The Knights take on EIU on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and will battle Belmont at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Both matches will take place at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.

Bellarmine (5-5) rolls in hot, winning all three of its matches last week.  The Knights are an unbeaten 5-0 at home after wins over West Liberty, Southern Indiana, IUPUI, Campbellsville, and Indiana Tech.  The Knights were dominant last weekend at home, winning five of its six doubles matches and 10 of its 12 singles matches against Campbellsville and Indiana Tech.

Freshmen Matthew Nice and Vineet Ramesh lead Bellarmine with 12 singles wins this year.  Nice is 7-1 in the spring and has claimed two ASUN Player of the Week honors.  The Knights have been versatile in doubles, competing with 13 different doubles combinations and accumulating 13 wins.

Eastern Illinois is 2-3 this spring with home wins over St. Francis (Ill.) and Quincy.  The Panthers are competing against IU Southeast on Friday.  Belmont is 5-1 in the spring but coming off its first loss of the season at Vanderbilt.  The Bruins face no. 23 Louisville on Saturday prior to their match against Bellarmine Sunday.  Belmont's wins have come against Lee University, Austin Peay, Lipscomb, Chattanooga, and UNC Asheville.
