SMITHFIELD, R.I. (April 18, 2009)--The Bryant Bulldogs blew past the Bellarmine Knights 14-4 this afternoon in a non-conference NCAA Division I lacrosse game at Bulldog Stadium.

The hosts got four points apiece from their starting attack line as Bryant maintained offensive control for the most of the game and held advantages in most statisical categories.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were also solid with Goalie Jameson Love recording 15 saves and his back up, Brad Burkhardt, getting three.

Bryant opened the scoring just 39 seconds into the game as Zack Greer netted the first of his four goals. Bellarmine's Jarrett Davis answered with a goal four minutes later, but 1-1 would be the closest the Knights would be all afternoon, as the Bulldogs scored twice more in the opening quarter to take a 3-1 lead.

Bellarmine's Jordan Wong notched his first goal of the season to start the scoring in the second frame, taking a spectacular pass from Alex Porter from out front and landing right on the doorstep of Bryant rookie netminder Jameson Love to cut the home lead to 3-2. However, that would be all the scoring for Knights in the first half as Bryant scored four unanswered to take a 7-2 lead at halftime.

Despite lineup changes at halftime, Bellarmine could not contain the Bulldogs as Bryant outscored the Knights by the same 7-2 count in the second half for the 14-4 final.

The Bulldogs outshot the Knights, 46-31 on the day, picking up 44 ground balls to Bellarmine's 29. Bryant played well in clearing situations, going 21-for-25, while forcing seven failed clears from the visiting Knights.

Bellarmine concludes its season next Saturday at home versus Great Western Lacrosse League rival Quinnipiac at 1 p.m.
